Privacy Policy
Who we are
WoofLog is developed by Vitalii Nechypor, operating as an individual based in the Netherlands. For questions about this policy or how your data is handled, contact support@getwooflog.com.
What data WoofLog processes
WoofLog is an iOS app for logging your dog's health. The data you enter — pet profile information, health log entries, medications, vaccines and routine care, photos, and weight — is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account (Apple's private CloudKit database), so it syncs across the Apple devices signed into your Apple ID. This data is held in your iCloud under your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We (WoofLog) do not operate servers that receive your dog's health data, and we cannot see the contents of your record.
Sharing a dog with other people
If you choose to invite someone to a dog's record, that dog's data is stored in Apple's shared CloudKit database so the people you invite can view and add to the same record. Each entry shows which contributor made it. Sharing happens only when you send an invitation — your data is never shared publicly, and never with us. You can stop sharing or remove a participant at any time, and anyone you invited can leave a shared dog.
Optional product analytics
WoofLog includes opt-in anonymous product analytics powered by PostHog (EU Cloud). Analytics is off by default. You are asked once after setting up your pet profile, and you can change your choice at any time in Profile → Settings.
If you opt in, WoofLog sends a small set of anonymous usage events — for example, which loggers you open, whether a log entry is saved, and whether you use medication tracking or History. These events help us understand which features are useful and where the app needs improvement.
These events contain no dog or owner names, no health record content, no notes, no medication names, no photos, no location data, and no personal identifiers. Each event includes only an anonymous random ID that is not linked to you or your Apple ID. Location enrichment is disabled at the SDK level.
The app does not:
- Collect your email, name, or other personal identifiers
- Send your dog's health records to WoofLog or any advertiser — your record stays in your own iCloud, which we cannot access
- Use advertising SDKs or share data for advertising purposes
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Send analytics events without your explicit opt-in
- Sell or share your personal information for money or for cross-context behavioural advertising
WoofLog does not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Your dog's health records are stored in your own iCloud under your Apple ID. Apple provides the iCloud storage and sync infrastructure, and its handling of that data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. WoofLog does not operate servers that receive this data and does not act as a data controller over your health log content — you control it, and you alone decide who, if anyone, to share a dog with. For the two limited things WoofLog does process — anonymous product analytics and any email you send to support — the data controller is Vitalii Nechypor (WoofLog), contactable at support@getwooflog.com.
If you opt in to product analytics, WoofLog sends pseudonymous usage events to PostHog (EU Cloud). These events contain no names, no contact details, no health-record content, and no identifier linked to your real-world identity — only an app-generated random ID. We process them on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in Profile → Settings, or by using Delete All Data, which also resets all analytics state.
Email support: if you choose to contact us at support@getwooflog.com, the content of your email — including your email address and whatever you write — reaches our inbox. The legal basis for handling that correspondence is legitimate interest in responding to your support request. We retain support emails only for as long as needed to resolve the issue and for a reasonable period afterward in case you follow up.
International data transfers
Anonymous analytics are processed by PostHog on EU Cloud infrastructure and stay within the EU/EEA. Your dog's record is stored in Apple's iCloud under your Apple ID; Apple may process iCloud data in data centres inside and outside the EU under Apple's own privacy terms and safeguards. Support emails are handled by our email provider and may be processed outside the EU/EEA under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
Your dog's record stays in your own iCloud for as long as you keep it; you can delete it at any time (see "Your rights" below), and WoofLog holds no copy. If you opt in to analytics, the anonymous events are retained by PostHog (EU Cloud) for no longer than 12 months and are then deleted or aggregated. Support emails are kept only for as long as needed to resolve your request plus a reasonable follow-up period.
Your rights under GDPR
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, we cannot export or delete app data on your behalf. You have full control from within the app:
- Access: your dog's record is fully visible in the app. For the anonymous analytics or any support email we hold, contact us and we will provide what we have.
- Rectification: edit or correct any entry directly in the app at any time; email us to correct anything in support correspondence.
- Erasure: use "Delete All Data" in Settings (this also removes the data from your iCloud as it syncs), or uninstall the app. You can also manage WoofLog's iCloud data through your Apple ID / iCloud settings.
- Restriction: turn analytics off in Profile → Settings to stop that processing; you may also ask us to restrict processing of any support correspondence.
- Portability: your dog's record lives in your own iCloud under your Apple ID, which you can access and move through Apple; a structured in-app export is planned for a future release.
- Objection & withdraw consent: turn analytics off in Profile → Settings at any time (or use Delete All Data, which also resets all analytics state); uninstalling the app stops all processing.
- Complaint: you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
For email support correspondence, you may request deletion of your emails from our inbox at any time by writing to support@getwooflog.com.
Children's privacy
WoofLog is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when app functionality changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in the app's "What's New" on the App Store.
